State Route 76 east of Interstate 15 re-opens after being closed for over 13 hours due to downed telephone pole in roadway

PALA – The California Highway Patrol re-opened State Route 76 east of Interstate 15 shortly after 3:30 p.m. today, after it had been closed for over 13 hours following an incident in which a vehicle hit a telephone phone causing it to fall into the roadway. Delayed response from phone company AT&T appears to have elongated the process of getting the road re-opened.

UPDATE: SR76 will remain closed leading into Pala until at least 3:30 p.m. due to downed telephone lines after accident

PALA – The California Highway Patrol has indicated that the delay in getting State Route 76 re-opened following a vehicle accident this morning has been due to delayed response by AT&T repair crews.

Updates have shown that AT&T was notified about 2 a.m. of the situation and due to access problems to their equipment yard, were not dispatched from Escondido until 11:30 a.m.

At 12:48 p.m. today, AT&T told the CHP that the work would take another two to three hours.

SR 76 closed just east of Rice Canyon Rd.; vehicle collides with telephone pole causing it to fall across roadway

PALA – A traffic accident at shortly around 1:45 a.m. today, Sunday, March 24, has resulted in the closure of State Route 76 approximately 1.45 miles east of Rice Canyon Road. A vehicle struck a telephone pole, causing it to fall across the roadway. No estimate has been provided as to the time the roadway will be reopened. Traffic eastbound on State Route 76 leading from Bonsall to Interstate 15 does not appear to have been affected at this time.

All casinos in the area have been advised to re-route traffic until the roadway is reopened.

No time estimate has been provided for the reopening of State Route 76. A Sig Alert is in effect.

The CHP has not provided any specific information relating to the vehicle involved in the accident.It was only reported that “minor injuries” were sustained.

    How is the driver? and/or passengers? Praying they are ok.

    VILLAGE NEWS RESPONDS: The CHP has not provided any specifics about the vehicle or its occupants other than to say “minor injuries” sustained.

    AT&T = Always Terrible & Tardy whenever it comes to ANY type of "service" at all when it comes to serving anything north of Lawrence Welk PERIOD…

    Was curious about the lack of "screaming motorcycles" passing our home here on Sunday morn. Too bad it took an accident and pole down to create such a peaceful morning. First time I’ve had positive thoughts about AT&T, thanks for the slow response.
